Program Description

The Bachelor of Science in Procurement and Logistics Management at the University of Saint Joseph Mbarara is a specialized undergraduate programme designed to train competent, ethical, and strategic professionals in procurement, supply chain, and logistics operations. The programme provides a strong foundation in procurement management, logistics, supply chain management, contract management, inventory control, and public procurement regulations.

Students acquire both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in areas such as purchasing and supply, tendering and contract administration, warehousing and distribution, transportation management, supply chain analytics, ethics in procurement, and the use of modern procurement and logistics systems. Learning is supported through case studies, field attachments, internships, and a final year project, ensuring graduates gain hands-on experience and industry-relevant competencies.

Graduates of the programme develop essential skills in sourcing and supplier management, negotiation, contract administration, inventory and logistics planning, cost control, risk management, and compliance with procurement laws and standards. They are trained to enhance efficiency, transparency, and value for money in both public and private sector organizations.

Upon completion, graduates are well-prepared for careers in procurement and logistics-related fields, including roles such as procurement officer, logistics officer, supply chain officer, contracts manager, purchasing officer, inventory controller, stores manager, and procurement and logistics consultant in government institutions, private companies, NGOs, and international organizations. The programme also provides a strong foundation for further studies and professional development in procurement, logistics, and supply chain management.

Applicants must have obtained at least two (2) Principal Passes at Advanced Level (A-Level) and at least five (5) passes at Ordinary Level (O-Level) obtained in one sitting, or their equivalent.
