University of Saint Joseph Mbarara Hosts NCHE Workshop on Institutional Self-Assessment to Strengthen Quality Assurance in Higher Education

This workshop brings together Academic Registrars and Quality Assurance officers from private universities and other degree-awarding institutions across Western Uganda, fostering a collaborative environment dedicated to enhancing the standards of education in the region.
The primary focus of this workshop is to guide institutions through the process of conducting thorough self-assessments. Institutional self-assessment is a critical tool for identifying areas of strength and opportunities for improvement, ultimately leading to the development of stronger internal quality assurance mechanisms. By systematically evaluating their operations, academic programs, and governance structures, institutions can ensure alignment with both national and international standards, enhancing their reputation and credibility.
The NCHE, through this workshop, emphasizes the importance of accountability and transparency within higher education. By empowering institutions to critically evaluate their practices, the council aims to cultivate a culture of quality that permeates all levels of academia, from administrative functions to student services and faculty development. This initiative aligns with the broader goals of promoting sustainable development and enhancing the competitiveness of Ugandan higher education institutions on a global scale.
